Celebrating the release from prison of Bode George was not wrong however the way in which it was carried out sent wrong signals to Nigerians and the world.
Most importantly it would cause a dent in the campaign of President Goodluck Jonathan, remember the adage "show me your friends and I would tell you who you are",if President Jonathan is publicly celebrating with known convicts especially one who was imprisoned for misappropriation of funds totalling about 100billion naira then how would he rightfully tell Nigerians that he is against corruption.
We have not forgotten the statement of his former boss late President Yar'adua that the elections that brought them into power in 2007 was irregular and fraught with corruption. Also that while President Goodluck was still the Deputy- Governor of Bayelsa state, his boss Governor Alamieyeseigha was also convicted of public looting.
This poses one question, is President Goodluck Jonathan for or against corruption?
