MESSAGE FROM AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

Dear member, As you know, change, courage and conflict all characterized 2011 – a year in which people rose up in protest against governments and other powerful actors in numbers not seen for decades. The contrast between the courage of protesters demanding rights and the failure of leadership to match that courage with concrete actions to respect human rights was painfully apparent. All of these events and trends are reflected in the Amnesty International Report 2012 which was launched today. The report documents the state of human rights in 155 countries and territories in 2011 – the year that Amnesty International celebrated its 50th anniversary.
