TIME FOR SOBER REFLECTIONS

Me, I like my Country, I like the land and People, everything e dey for Nigeria, make we join hands to make Nigeria better.(Anonymous)

My fellow Nigerians,
The past 50 years have been full of bitter sweet memories for Nigeria, we have experienced civil war, survived natural and manmade disasters, economic meltdowns, military dictatorship, discovered oil, social disintegration and the effect of failed leadership strategies. It is at moments like this that we pay homage to our heroes past; Nnamdi Azikwe, Tafawa Balewa, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Muritala Mohamed, Ahmadu Bello, Sam Ewang, AIvan Ikoku, Herbert Macauly, to mention a few.

This also is a period of sober reflection, we should evaluate our failures as a Nation, appreciate our success but most importantly look into the future. Our Society is far from perfect and we still suffer from cancerous social vices such as corruption and lack of adequate infrastructure. Generations of Leaders past have failed us and as another general election stare us in the face, we wonder at the uncertainty of our future as a Nation.

Societies such as the United States, England, Singapore and Japan have succeeded in becoming world powers, not because they have superior powers or talents but because every citizen took it upon themselves to contribute significantly to the growth of their Homeland. It is time we also as Nigerians took up initiative to implement proactive legislations, set aside our tribal differences and focus our energies on positive growth and development.

My brothers and Sisters let us join hands to make Nigeria better.

Thank You.
